* Drover unfortunately are no longer renting PCO ready cars but you can still check out, our up to date article ” 3 Ways to Get an Uber Ready Car” *
If your looking to rent a PCO ready car to drive for Uber/Bolt/Kapten/Viavan and any other on demand Rideshare app, you have two great options in Drover and Splend.
Both companies have a great offering with many great benefits which I will break down for you to be able to make an informed decision of which one will suit you best.
We have also teamed up with Drover and Splend to offer our readers a £50 discount when you sign up with either company!
Drover
Drover are a platform which allows companies to offer PCO ready cars to rent on a short or long term basis.
Drover act as the middle man between you and the supplier through a really simple user friendly platform. You can browse through hundreds of PCO ready cars and use filters to narrow down the results based on your certain criteria such as make, model, price, distance etc.
Drover offer a comprehinsive list of cars from the Toyota Prius for Uber X, Ford Galaxy for Uber XL, Mercedes Benz for Uber Lux to a Nissan Leaf if you want to be ahead of the game and go full electric.
With Drover you can pick up a great deal for a Toyota Prius from £189 per week but it will be a 2009/2010 model with high mileage. The condition of these cars can vary greatly so if possible, it is advisable that you inspect the car before you commit.
The first Toyota Prius I booked through Drover ended up having 340000 miles and quite frankly shouldn’t have been allowed on the road but Drover where quick to deal with my complained and promptly found me a suitable replacement and even refunded me the weeks rental.
It was refreshing to see Drover fully committed and on board with any driver complaints so rest assured that they are on the drivers side.
Splend
Splend provide PCO car rental cars direct with their own fleet of Kia Niro’s and have recently added the new shape Toyota Corrolla to their offering.
Although the car options are very limited, what you do get is either a brand new or a 1 year old car for a similar price you would pay for a 10 year Prius through Drover.
Splend also have the option of rent to buy where you actually end up owning the car at the end of the rental period with no balloon payment.
When you join Splend, you become part of the team with community events, meet ups and full access to the member support centre in Cricklwood, London. They also provide driver analytics to help you increase earnings, get better ratings, and learn to be a safer driver through coaching and training. This is a great benefit, especially for any new driver starting out in the Private Hire game
What Is Included In the Weekly Rent?
When you rent a PCO car through Drover or Splend you have one fixed weekly cost so you know exactly what you are paying every week with no unexpected bills.
With both companies you have fully comprehensive hire and reward insurance included which would normally cost around £3000 for the first year. You also don’t have to worry about servicing, maintenance or repairs which can be very costly and road tax and MOT is covered too.

As you can see, Drover and Splend are 2 great options if you looking to rent a PCO ready car to start driving for Uber, Bolt and all the other on demand Rideshare apps.
The advantage they have over other PCO rental companies is that you don’t have to pay a deposit which brings your start up cost down drastically. They only carry out a soft credit check to verify your ID so you shouldn’t have a problem getting started, even with bad credit.
Drover offer a convenient, hassle free service which allows you to pick up a car local to you for a great price. They offer a higher daily millage allowance than Splend and a lower excess in the unfortunate case of an accident. The sign up fee is slightly lower and the minimum contract is slightly shorter as well.
Splend on the other hand offer you a brand new or nearly new car for the price of what you would pay for a much older car with drover.
Which ever option you decide to go for, remember to use the Appdriver discount code to SAVE £50 off your sign up fee.
