Things are really starting to heat up in the London rideshare world as another big player entered the market today. Ola has officially started onboarding new drivers ready for the London launch on 10th February. There have been murmurings for a while but Ola are finally here to shake things up even further and they couldn’t have come at a better time.

With Ubers licence being recently revoked and with christmas being literally round the corner, Ola are hoping to come in strong and make another serious challenge to Ubers dominance which they are no stranger to.

Who Are Ola?

Ola are an Indian transport company which was founded in 2011. If you hadn’t heard the name you would presume that they are another tech start up trying to get in on the action, but in fact, they have been competing fiercely with Uber for years.

Ola who already have over 125 million customers in over 110 Cities is now entering the London market to continue the ongoing rivalry with Uber.

Why You Should Drive for Ola

With the potential that Uber loses the battle in the courts and doesn’t get their licence renewed there are potentially 45000 drivers who will be without a job. Ola are big enough and established enough to be able to take the slack and offer work for all the ex uber drivers.

If your not multi-apping your not trying in my opinion and adding Ola to the list of apps you can work with is a no brainer.

The best time to drive for any new app is when they first launch as they always offer massive incentives to drivers to entice them onto their platform and away from their rivals. Ola are no exception, and are offering exceptional promotions to drivers and I’m sure to riders also.

What are Ola Offering to New Drivers?

Ola are offering free of charge bookings to all its drivers till the end of February 2020. That means that for over 2 months you can drive for Ola commission free meaning that you will not pay them a penny in commission and you will get to keep the complete fare. This means that you will make 25% more on each trip compared to Uber and 15% more compared to Bolt.

This is a great incentive for drivers and an opportunity to earn really good money over the next two months. Ola are entering the market aggressively and in my opinion are sending a strong message that they are not here to take part but they are here to take over.

Ola will also be offering daily payments which I know a lot of drivers are in favour off. Uber do offer a similar cash out option but it could take up to 2 days and Bolt only have weekly payouts

Ola are also entering the market with the ability for drivers to see the riders destination. This is the first time a rideshare app has launched with this feature, but with this slowly becoming an industry standard, Ola have realised that this feature is imperative and something that must have if they are looking to poach new drivers.

Ola are also offering two driver plans which are a first in the UK rideshare market which involve drivers paying a weekly fee for 0% commission on all rides. You can read a complete breakdown in this article “Ola Driver Plans“.
